The Willock House is Q Development’s first project and is an exquisite historic restoration of one of Allegheny West’s jewel mansions, of which only 18 of 130 original mansions remain in the area and fewer still serve as single-family homes. The Willock House had previously nearly succumbed to a similar destiny as it sat empty for more than 15 years.
Q acquired the property in 2014 after others had saved the property from neglect and potential demolition but the restoration was not completed. Working with partners, including the Allegheny West Civic Council, Q completed the restoration of the mansion with contemporary updates, including unique leaf art from Allegheny Commons across the street as composed by artist Lisa Haabestad.
Lovingly furnished by the local furniture and design experts at Weisshouse, the single family home has been made available to non-profits for fundraising activities when otherwise not occupied. The Willock House was Q’s first project to utilize Federal Historic Tax Credits.
